Make a problem(parking) and then groan about how to solve it and waste our taxes fixing it. If only ONE councillor down there had a brain. Maybe be Dorothy from Kansas found an extra one.

If any St. John's Councillors are reading this then Please, please DO NOT accept Payment In Lieu. This may work in Calgary (where I lived for many years) or Vancouver which have large populations which can provide a tax base to support PUBLIC TRANSPORT but it will not work in St. John's! This place does not even have express buses to take people into downtown from a park-n-ride, etc. Pay no attention to the oil companies who lack any logic in this type of decision making because the decision makers in those companies either walk to work (being expats they get a house allowance or have underground parking courtesy of their company. Us people low on the totem pole need access to low cost parking. Wonder why then most people never come downtown to shop. I never went downtown Calgary to shop either because a lack of parking caused prices to skyrocket and made it unaffordable. And that's if you could find a spot to park.
