Halifax (CP) — The government of Nova Scotia has sold its mobile asphalt plant for $2.4 million, about $1.2 million less than the province paid for it three years ago.

When the plant went into operation in August 2012, the province’s previous NDP government said it wanted to address unfair pricing and a lack of competition for project tenders in some rural areas.

The government-run paving program was discontinued after the Liberals were elected last fall.

The government says Newfoundland-based Westside Asphalt and Concrete bought the plant.
