Yeah, Ed, capitalism is going gang-busters. Wake up, corporate america has been subsidized by Washington since the day one. What do you think the military is for?

In response to Nasty Nate, what will be done? is the question. Too bad the Nates of the world don't offer any ideas, or better yet get up and do something.

But Stevie and his twin Danny Castro told us that the economy was fine, and we in Canada and Newfoundland were protected from events such as we see day in and day out.

Guess they are just too full of it to see the forest from the trees.

Now the question remains, what will be done to bring a sustainable industry to the people of this province? Government work is not sustainable since once everyone is forced off the island we will not have a need for government workers either.

Time might be here to face facts, the island is sinking and we better plug the holes or get off before we go down with it.

First of all we need to stop expecting the government (read other taxpayers) to bail out or subsidize failing companies or getting companies to set up where they would not ordinarily do so. If a venture is viable private industry will do it without government monies.
