How about announcing $42.5 million to go towards road repair and addictions treatment facilities?

...and as with everything - there's always a Newfie to complain about every move the government makes.

Heaven forbid the military get some money after decades of neglect.

Driver from Newfoundland...maybe you should be complaining to the minister of health then about your concerns instead of bashing the defense minister. Your not really solving anything, by doing so.

Good news for the military, great news for Gander. In the short-term it will mean direct jobs and related economic benefits, in the long-term, it means 9 Wing isn't going anywhere.

Dave from St. John's: It is good the buildings are getting upgraded. I don;t think 103 was ever leaving, even though it was considered. What they should consider is putting an Air Transport unit like Greenwood's there too. Then the SAR capacity could be augmented by the presence of 130's that can perform dual roles.

    Donna:
The Government has to pay for peoples addictions because the economy was/is so bad here that people were leaving en masse for Fort Mac and coming home severely addicted to crack. Reason # 2,there are doctors overprescribing drugs such as OxiContin, handing them out like candy, causing everyday people to become drug addicts. If you need more reasons,I can provide them.

Hey, Dave from St.John's, you're right. 9 Wing Gander isn't going anywhere. On the other hand, 5 Wing Goose bay is going nowhere and the sooner they stop weeping and gnashing their teeth over it, the better. They should give it up already and stop beating a dead horse. She's gone bys, she's gone.
