Body of 20-year-old man found after he was reported missing from campsite

The body of a missing 20-year-old man was found Thursday by search and rescue crews in the water off the rocky shoreline near Northern Bay Sands.
About 1:40 p.m. Thursday, RCMP responded to a report of the missing man.
A subsequent investigation and interviews indicated that the male was from the St. John's area and had been camping with friends in Northern Bay Sands when he went missing sometime during the night.
An extensive search of the land and ocean was conducted by the RCMP, Avalon North Wolverines Search and Rescue, Fire and Emergency Services, and the North Shore Fire Department.
A continued search of the rocky shoreline later found the male's body in the water off of Northern Bay Sands.
The investigation into this matter is still continuing and the deceased's name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and consent of the family.
