Travel Bug tops Tilley fundraiser

A St. John's store and its customers are the top fundraiser in a Tilley Hats campaign for charity.
Retail stores participating in Hand Over Your Hat by Tilley, which specializes in outdoor wear, collected enough hats to raise $9,500 across the county.
The Travel Bug in St. John's managed to collect the most hats among the retailers and was described by Tilley as the "clear leader." And as a result, a local charity will get a $3,500 donation from Tilley, or more than one third of the total.
The December-long campaign saw Tilley donating $5 for every winter hat members of the public dropped off. Patrons donating the hats were not required to make a purchase in the store.
The $3,500 is going to the St. John's Status of Women. The hats were already dropped off for the women's centre to distribute through its clothing bank.
