Christine Healy, commercial advisor with the Department of Natural Resources, has been recognized as one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ for 2009.
The national program celebrates the achievements of 40 Canadians in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors from coast to coast.
"Christine's accomplishments speak for themselves and are worthy of recognition," Kathy Dunderdale, Minister of Natural Resources, said in a news release.
"This national recognition of the skill and passion Christine brings to her work demonstrates the talent we have in the public service. Along with her commitment to her career, she has mastered the ability to achieve that critical balance between work and home that helps ensure her continued professional and personal success."
According to the release, in her role as commercial advisor, Healy was co-lead of the negotiating teams for the Hibernia Southern Extension, Hebron and the White Rose formal agreements. These agreements represent ground-breaking historical developments for the province in terms of equity ownership in offshore projects and enhanced super royalty rates.
This year's Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ included a second recipient from Newfoundland and Labrador - Jamie King, president and chief executive officer with Verafin Inc.
Canada's Top 40 Under 40™ promotes mentorship and professional development by introducing these leaders to the business community and promoting them as role models for young Canadians. Recipients are chosen based on five major criteria, including vision and leadership, innovation and achievement and community involvement. An independent advisory board of industry and community leaders from across Canada selects the Top 40 individuals.
