FREDERICTON - New Brunswick hunters killed 3,556 moose during last week's three-day moose season.

Natural Resources Minister Bruce Northrup says that's a record for the annual hunt.

Northrup says the figure is up by 44 per cent from last fall, mainly due to an increase in the number of licenses made available in the province.

There were over 4,700 licensed hunters for the Sept. 27-29 hunt, with about 75 per cent successful in getting a moose.
