AUGUSTA, Maine - Maine foresters and park rangers say peak foliage colour has reached southernmost Maine and all coastal locations.
The latest fall foliage report from the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry says 75 per cent to peak colour change has taken place in southern regions from Augusta to Monmouth, Auburn, Sebago Lake and Sanford.
Rangers are reporting peak colour change in all coastal communities from Kittery to Portland, Camden, Bar Harbor and Lubec. Leaf drop is currently low, or 10-30 per cent, in these regions.
Peak colour is being reported for a second straight week in western Maine as well as the zone that includes Dover-Foxcroft, Newport and Bangor. Peak colour is also holding on in northern Maine.
