Canada's auto sector to provide modest lift to economy in second quarter: Scotiabank

TORONTO - Scotiabank Economics has raised its 2013 forecast for North American automotive production to 16.5 million units, boosting second-quarter economic growth in the Mexico, the United States and, to lesser extent, Canada. Scotiabank auto specialist Carlos Gomes estimates the auto sector will add only one-tenth of per cent to Canadian economic growth during the April-June quarter, compared with about half a percentage point in the United States and a full point in Mexico.
