TORBAY, N.L. - The Newfoundland and Labrador government is spending $3.8 million to improve infrastructure in three communities.

Minister of Municipal Affairs Kevin O'Brien was in Torbay on Friday to make the announcement.

Torbay, Flat Rock and Pouch cove will each receive part of the money as part of the Municipal Capital Works Program.

A release says the money will go towards a new municipal depot, road improvements and replacement of a line feed system for the water treatment facility in Torbay.

In Flatrock, the money will be used to construct a maintenance garage, while Pouch Cove's portion will go towards upgrades to the roads accessing the town.

O'Brien says the money is needed to meet population growth in the regions.
