BLANC-SABLON, Que. - The RCMP are investigating the sudden death of a crew member aboard a supply vessel that was on its way from Nunavut to Montreal.
Investigators say the 26-year-old man was found dead in his cabin when he failed to report for work Sunday morning aboard the Umiavut.
When the cargo ship anchored offshore at Blanc Sablon, the Surete due Quebec, Quebec's provincial police force, secured the vessel for the RCMP who are now conducting the investigation.
The man's body was flown back to St. John's, N.L., for an autopsy today.
The Mounties did not release other details.
