Police identify 9-year-old girl who died after being hit by a van in Nova Scotia

PLEASANTVILLE, NOVA SCOTIA, - Police have released the name of a nine-year-old Nova Scotia girl who died Saturday after she was struck by a van in Pleasantville.

RCMP say Olive Moore had been dropped off at a home (on Corkum Road) around noon when she was hit while standing in the road as the van left the driveway.

Police say the Mount Pleasant girl was taken to South Shore Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Cpl. Dyson Smith says the driver, a 30-year-old woman from Mount Pleasant, was arrested but released without charges.

Smith says the victim and driver knew each other, but would not elaborate.

The investigation is ongoing.
