ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - A man accused of lighting donations on fire outside a Salvation Army Thrift Store in St. John's, N.L., has been sent for a psychiatric assessment.

Justin Murphy appeared briefly Tuesday in provincial court on a charge of arson.

The 27-year-old man is also charged with breaching probation.

Police say surveillance footage of the fire last Thursday shows a man lighting the donations on fire at the rear of the store on Kenmount Road.

The fire spread quickly, causing moderate damage to the building.
