MONTREAL - A 70-year-old man was shot by police during an incident Friday in Montreal.
Montreal police spokeswoman Anie Lemieux said officers were responding to a call near downtown about a man expressing suicidal thoughts.
She said there was an altercation — and police fired at least one shot.
The man was struck in the lower body, she said, and was taken to hospital.
"His life is not believed to be in danger," Lemieux said.
The incident will now be investigated by the provincial police — as is the norm in a shooting involving the Montreal force.
