Nova Scotia woman sentenced for defrauding two highland dancing groups

ANTIGONISH, N.S. - A Nova Scotia woman has been sentenced to 90 days in jail for stealing $75,000 from two highland dancing groups.

Cheryl Ann Scott-McCormack of Antigonish will serve the sentence on weekends.

The woman faced six charges, including theft, fraud and uttering forged documents.

Court heard Scott-McCormack defrauded the Antigonish Highland Dancing Association and the Scotia Highland Dancers through cash withdrawals and writing forged cheques to herself.

She served as the groups' treasurer between 2004 and 2012.
