ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Police have laid charges against a man following an investigation into the transport of drugs between Nova Scotia and Newfoundland.
Investigators say they intercepted a pickup truck smuggling what they say was a significant amount of drugs Tuesday on the Avalon Peninsula.
Police say they seized more than 45 kilograms of marijuana in plastic bags and three kilograms of hashish.
Police say the drugs were concealed in a wooden crate at the back of the truck.
Police say Samuel Caines of Conception Bay South, N.L., faces charges of trafficking drugs.
Caines is due in court March 27.
