FREDERICTON - Two men have been arrested following a nearly three-hour standoff with police in Fredericton.

Insp. Martin Gaudet says police cordoned off an area around the Howard Johnson Hotel on Prospect Street and negotiated with the two men in a room.

Gaudet says the men surrendered without incident.

He says one of the men is suspected to have been involved in the armed robbery of a pharmace on the same street earlier in the day.

Gaudet says items were taken during the robbery, but he wouldn't confirm if those items were drugs or money.

He would not say if any weapons were seized during the arrests.
