Man pleads guilty to attack that left man paralyzed from waist down

PICTOU, N.S. - A Nova Scotia man pleaded guilty today to attempted murder in relation to an attack that left another man paralyzed from the waist down.

Shane Matheson of Trenton entered the plea in Pictou Supreme Court.

Charges of aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose were stayed.

Scott Jones was stabbed in downtown New Glasgow in the early hours of Oct. 13, 2013.

Matheson will remain in custody pending sentencing on June 12.
