KENTVILLE, N.S. - The RCMP in Nova Scotia have arrested a man following what they describe as a violent assault against two people at a Kentville home.

Spokesman Sgt. Al LeBlanc declined to say what kind of weapon was used in Friday's attack, saying it is part of the ongoing investigation.

The victims, a 41-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman, were taken to Valley Regional Hospital.

The man was later released, but police say the woman was transported to hospital in Halifax with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

LeBlanc says the woman sustained head injuries.

Police say a 50-year-old Kentville man was arrested at the scene of the assaults without incident.

LeBlanc says the suspect is known to the victims, but declined to disclose the nature of their relationship citing privacy concerns.
