Train believed to be carrying propane derails in Nova Scotia: RCMP

WEST RIVER STATION, N.S. - The RCMP say a train believed to be carrying propane has derailed in Nova Scotia's Pictou County.

Police say they received a call today shortly before 2 p.m. that a train left the tracks near 180 Lansdown Rd. in West River Station.

The Mounties say two people were aboard the train at the time, but no injuries have been reported.

They say some containers believed to be carrying propane are on their side, but they are not leaking.

Police say they are evacuating a two-kilometre radius around the train derailment.

Local fire crews and officials with the province's Environment Department are on the scene.

West River Station is about 150 kilometres northeast of Halifax.
