DOYLES, N.L. - Police say a 72-year-old man from Louisiana died after he lost control of the motorcycle he was riding in Newfoundland on Friday.
The accident happened at around 5 p.m. on the Trans-Canada Highway about five kilometres east of Doyles.
The RCMP say the man, whose name has not been released, was touring the province with two friends.
The Mounties say they had just got off a ferry and were continuing their journey.
Police say a number of drivers stopped to help the man, who was conscious and alert shortly after the accident but later died at hospital.
Police say their investigation is continuing, but road conditions, alcohol and speed are not considered to be factors in the accident.
