The wife of a Canadian teacher detained in Indonesia on allegations of child sexual assault is pleading for her husband's release.

Neil Bantleman, who worked at the prestigious Jakarta International School, was arrested during a police investigation into the alleged sexual assault of three kindergarten students.

His wife, Tracy Bantleman, who also teaches at the school, says the week since her husband's arrest has been a "horrific nightmare."

Neil Bantleman was detained along with an Indonesian colleague and both men deny the allegations.

Tracy Bantleman says in a phone interview from Jakarta that her family is fighting for their release, and is trying to put their full trust in the Indonesian legal system.

A Foreign Affairs spokesman says details on the case are not being released for privacy reasons but consular officials are providing assistance.
