Pedestrian killed after being hit by truck on road in eastern Newfoundland

CLARENVILLE, N.L. - Police are investigating the death of a 44-year-old man who was struck by a tractor-trailer on a road in eastern Newfoundland.

RCMP in Clarenville say the man was walking on Route 320 at about 6:30 a.m. Wednesday when he was hit.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, which is about five kilometres north of the Trans-Canada Highway.

The driver of the truck was not injured.

Police are investigating, but say the victim's identity was not being released.
