OTTAWA - Severe thunderstorms have left several thousand hydro customers in the Ottawa Valley area without power.

Heavy downpours, hail and strong winds on Monday afternoon brought down trees and hydro lines.

About 6,200 customers were in the dark in Arnprior, more than 8,300 in Nepean, and hundreds more scattered throughout Ottawa and the Ottawa Valley.
