OTTAWA - Homegrown and international talents are set to converge on the catwalk when Ottawa Fashion Week kicks off next month.
The eighth edition of the style event will feature spring-summer 2013 collections at the San Marco Ballroom.
Local talents from Ottawa and Gatineau set to showcase collections include: Alfred-Marcel, Alice & Alishka, Dare by Gwen Madiba, Guertina Cruz, Vivi par Genevieve Couture, Elena Hinke Haute Couture, Genevieve Lima, Loccocina and duo Jana Hanzel and Emilia Torabi.
Montreal-based labels Muse par Christian Chenail, Voyou, Melow par Melissa Bolduc and Y!D.N.A. Collection are also on the calendar, as are Toronto designers including Copious, Illyria Pestich and Solace by Shweta Wahi. Kelsey McIntyre from Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. will show the latest from her label, Serendipity.
Event organizers are partnering with the U.S. Embassy to bring designers based south of the border to the Ottawa runway.
Liberian-born Korto Momolu, a one-time runner-up on design competition series "Project Runway," and Tennessee native Jeff Garner, founder of eco-friendly label Prophetik, are set to showcase their designs. Garner will be presenting his collection commissioned by the royals of Monaco in commemoration of the late Princess Grace.
Ottawa Fashion Week runs from Oct. 12-14.
