MONCTON, N.B. - Firefighters in Moncton, N.B. endured bitter cold temperatures as they fought a blaze at a rooming house that forced the evacuation of 15 people.

The fire broke out in the third floor attic area of a rooming house on Park Street at around 1:45 a.m. today.

Platoon Chief Rob Brine says the building was extensively damaged.

Brine says a transit bus was used to keep the tenants warm before they were taken to a local hotel by the Canadian Red Cross.

Although the cause of the blaze is under investigation Brine says it's believed to be electrical in nature.
