'Mad Men' meets Maple Leaf: Clothing line inspired by Canadian character Megan

TORONTO - "Mad Men" meets the Maple Leaf in Banana Republic's latest collection inspired by the hit period drama.

The third instalment of the retailer's popular collection channels style influences from Montreal native Megan Draper, portrayed by Montreal-born Jessica Pare.

The face of the new line also has a Canadian connection, with Toronto-born, Richmond, B.C.-raised supermodel Coco Rocha featured in select images from the brand's marketing campaign.

The collection is designed by Banana Republic in collaboration with Janie Bryant, Emmy-winning costume designer for "Mad Men."

"The spirit and fashion-forward thinking we see on-screen in Megan was really inspirational for the capsule," Bryant said in a release.

The new line mirrors the mod vibe of the late 1960s, featuring a mix of bold prints and bright colours.

Silhouettes and style touches that are signature to the era — like shift dresses, keyhole details and checked capris — are also included, with mirrored heel shoes, graphic scarves and geometric jewelry among the accessories in the collection.

Meanwhile, for guys seeking to channel the style of Don Draper, the collection also features retro-inspired menswear offerings including plaids and stripes, sport coats and suits with fedoras and skinny ties to accessorize the attire.

The Banana Republic "Mad Men" collection is set to arrive in stores and online on Feb. 27.

Season 6 of "Mad Men" will premiere April 7 on AMC.
