Elephant, lion and tiger stranded in rural Quebec after truck fire

BAIE-ST-PAUL, Que. - An elephant, a tiger and a lion are safe after the truck they were being carried in caught fire in rural Quebec today.

The vehicle the animals were in caught fire near Baie-St-Paul, north of Quebec City.

A spokeswoman for Quebec provincial police says the two big cats were put in cages and the elephant is being kept on a leash.

Ingrid Asselin says the animals weren't hurt in the fire but the truck was nearly completely destroyed.

Police are trying to find another truck to transport the animals.

Asselin says they are trying to determine whether the animals belonged to a zoo or a circus, or what caused the fire.
