Buck Pierce's status still uncertain as Bombers prepare for Stamps
WINNIPEG - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers expect to learn later today whether quarterback Buck Pierce can return this weekend.
Pierce has been out with a concussion and coach Tim Burke says if he is found fit to play, he'll be taking snaps Thursday.
The Blue Bombers are home to the Calgary Stampeders on Saturday.
Burke says if Pierce isn't taking first-team reps in practice, that means Joey Elliott will start.
Elliott was named offensive player of the week for leading the Blue Bombers to a 27-22 upset victory over the Montreal Alouettes on Monday.
Winnipeg was trounced 44-3 by Calgary last month. The Blue Bombers are in a must-win situation to keep their playoff hopes alive.
