SALT LAKE CITY - A proposal to combine 25 square miles of ski terrain in Utah could be the next great leap forward for Utah skiing.
It would allow skiers to hop from one resort in the Wasatch Range to another. Seven resorts are already clustered closely together there.
It would make for a Euro-style experience in in the mountains that loom over Salt Lake City, creating North America's largest skiing complex.
Canyons Resort has given the concept new attention with a proposed first step: a $10 million gondola travelling two miles into Solitude Mountain Resort. Solitude recently said it hopes to see the gondola built this summer but the plan requires Congressional approval, which likely means no action until the new Congress is seated in January.
