LEWISPORTE, N.L. - RCMP in Newfoundland and Labrador have identified a 78-year-old man from Notre Dame Junction who died in an ATV accident.

The Mounties in Lewisporte say Stewart Stuckey died from a head injury.

They were notified Tuesday evening that Stuckey was overdue after he had left early in the morning to check his rabbit slips.

He was later found about 25 kilometres south of the Trans-Canada Highway in the Red Fox Road-Mt. Peyton area and was pronounced dead.

Police say investigators have determined that the ATV struck a rock, partially ejecting Stuckey from his seat.

Police say he was then pinned by the vehicle.
