WHITEHORSE - Searchers are looking for a 39-year-old Calgary boater who is missing on Teslin Lake in southern Yukon.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Brad Kaeding says the man and his wife set off on a small boat on Monday night but ran into trouble at about 10 p.m.

Kaeding says high wind and waves flipped the boat, dumping the couple into the water.

He says the 24-year-old woman managed to make it to shore and found a cabin two hours later, when police were called.

Mounties are reminding boaters to be prepared before they head out on the water.

No names have been released. (CKRW)
