Hope is beginning to fade for a Deer Lake man who has been missing in Haiti since last Tuesday's massive earthquake.
James W. Coates, 37, has been working with the UN stabilization mission in Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, since September 2008.
He was likely in his office on the top floor of the five-storey UN headquarters when it collapsed. Survivors have been pulled from the rubble, but up to this morning, there has been no word on Coates, his sister, Novalee Coates-Drover, stated.
"There has been no news in the last 24 hours," Coates-Drover said.
Coates works as an information management assistant with the UN. He was communicating with a friend through his computer when the quake hit.

Two people with the surname 'Coates' in Haiti at the same time, and both caught in this disaster - one missing and one deceased. Weird coincidence!
