The provincial government plans to hold information sessions in communities throughout Labrador to update residents on the Northern Strategic Plan (NSP) progress report.
Labrador Affairs Minister John Hickey and officials from the department will visit communities beginning Friday.
"The Northern Strategic Plan Progress Report presents an important snapshot of the evolution of the plan and initiatives that will be spearheaded in the coming years," Hickey said. "By going out to communities, we can give a first-hand update on the plan and its achievements.
"The NSP has enabled us to make tremendous progress and we will continue to strive to support the plan's vision of a Labrador where government and people work together so that all residents share in an improved quality of life."
The information sessions scheduled are as follows:
• April 9, noon Happy Valley-Goose Bay (Masonic Lodge);
• April 14, 6 p.m. Port Hope Simpson (Alexis Hotel);
• April 15, 6 p.m. L'Anse au Loup (Lawrence D. O'Brien Town Centre); and,
• May 14, noon at Nain (Atsanik Lodge).
Information sessions for Churchill Falls and Labrador West will be announced at a later date.

Transportation is of high importance to Labradorians.
Due to the isolation and geographical separation of communities, access is a key component to economic and social development within Labrador The transportation diversity of the region ranges from marine services to air
travel to snowmobiling to road access. The different modes of transportation are used to support recreation, business and tourism. Progress on transportation infrastructure and service delivery has a direct impact on the other themes in
the plan.
Goal
An integrated transportation system that is responsive to business and individual needs
Objectives
1. Implementation of the Labrador Transportation Plan
Still no proper emergency air transportation system or fully equipped hospitals. Still dirt trails and mud bogs as highways. Newfoundland still taking more and more in taxes and royalties and not returning any for the people that provided the wealth to the Island.
The Labrador Flag Shall Fly Again. -
