The City of Mount Pearl is gearing up for its largest anti-litter initiative.
The Mount Pearl 20-Minute Makeover kicks off Saturday, and encourages individuals, groups, schools and businesses to get outside for just 20 minutes and lend a hand to help clean up Mount Pearl.
Participants are invited to the Reid Community Centre from 9-10 a.m. for free refreshments.
The initiative runs from May 8 to June 26.
"The city wants to make this annual clean-up event a huge success. And with every resident pitching in, we can make Mount Pearl the cleanest city in Canada," said Mount Pearl Mayor Randy Simms.
Free bags can be picked up at city hall, the Reid Community Centre and the municipal depot.
Arrangements can be made for pick-up of collected garbage by calling 748-1046.
Participants are encouraged to register their clean-up by calling the community services department at 748-1046 or by completing a registration form online at www.mountpearl.ca.
While registration is not mandatory to participate, it is appreciated and helps us measure our success.
