On Dec. 19 the Capital Auto Group presented a cheque for $10,000 to Tim Murphy, director of the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation. The donation came after the Group's six dealerships worked with clients and customers to raise $10,000 during the threeday Capital Auto Group Movember sales event. The event sought to raise awareness of prostate cancer while raising money to support prostate cancer patients in Newfoundland and Labrador. The $10,000 donated included $100 for each vehicle sold during the three-day event that the Capital Auto Group matched by contributing an additional $5,000.
On Dec. 8, the town of Paradise held its annual Santa Claus Parade. Employees of the Scotiabank Paradise, accompanied by none other than Frosty the Snowman, collected $830 in toonies during the parade. This was matched dollar for dollar by Scotiabank corporate office for a total contribution of $1,660. Funds were presented the following week to two local food banks.
