Community Heroes: Final RCMP Klondike Night

The final total for Klondike Night 2014 was $55,428.60. From the proceeds of this final Klondike Night, organizers have presented cheques for $27,714.30 to the Candlelighters and the Children’s Wish Foundation. . In total RCMP employees have raised $970,835.03 for 44 charities over the course of 31 years.

The Candlelighters is a parent volunteer organization that supports children affected by cancer and their families. It will use the Klondike Night donation to run their eight-day Camp Delight for oncology kids aged seven-17 and their siblings. The Children’s Wish Foundation grant wishes to the provinces most seriously ill children and their families.

The Klondike Night Coat Check is awarded to a smaller youth charity that keeps 100 per cent of the profits from the coat check. The 2014 winner was the MacDonald Drive Beavers and Cubs which raised and will keep $1,217.94.
