Hefford earns most votes in Hughes Brook

HUGHES BROOK  Vaughan Hefford earned the most votes Tuesday night in the Hughes Brook town council election.
Hefford garnered 63 votes, followed by Glen Gale at 59, Rosemary Murley with 58, Greg Lovell with 55 and Doreen Suley at 52.
Lovell had previously served as deputy mayor of the town, while Murley was also an incumbent as a councillor.
The town of roughly 240 people had a voter turnout of 104 out of a possible 189.
Unsuccessful candidates, with vote totals in parenthesis, were: Gary Wells (51), Becky Lidstone (49), Natalie Toba (49) and Boyd Ivany (27).
The new council will meet within two weeks to determine themselves who will serve as mayor and deputy mayor.
