HUMBER ARM SOUTH  The seven-member town council for Humber Arm South was determined Tuesday night, with Glenn Savard leading the way with 396 votes.

Darrell Jesso (383), Arch Mitchell (375), Michelle Russell (372), Mary Humber (341), Paul Pike Sr. (312), and Bill Duffy (283) will make up the rest of the council.

Mitchell previously served as mayor, while incumbents Jesso, Pike Sr., and Humber also return.

The new council will meet Oct. 8, where they will take nominations for the mayor and deputy mayor positions.

Ronald Deluney and Roy Temple were the unsuccessful candidates, picking up 269 and 267 votes respectively.

Of the roughly 1,200 eligible voters in the town of 1,800, there was a voter turnout of about 51 per cent, according to returning officer Marion Evoy. She said it was an improvement over the approximately 41 per cent turnout during the last election.
