REGINA - Saskatchewan New Democrats have kicked off their campaign for the Nov. 7 election.

NDP Leader Dwain Lingenfelter says he plans to run a positive campaign that talks about issues including health-care, education and better highways.

Lingenfelter says he thinks the public is weary of negative attack ads.

He points to the Ontario election Thursday night as an example, noting less than half of all eligible voters in that province cast ballots.

The NDP and the governing Saskatchewan Party have already been advertising for many weeks, even though the vote won't officially be called until Monday.

That's because Saskatchewan now has fixed election dates so everyone knew when people would head to the polls.
