WHITEHORSE - The Yukon Party captured a third straight majority in the territory’s election Tuesday night.

The party leader, Premier Darrell Pasloski, was elected for the first time in the newly created Mountainview riding of Whitehorse.

He took over as head of the right-of-centre party in May when longtime premier Dennis Fentie announced his retirement.

The Yukon Party captured 11 seats in the 19-seat assembly.

The NDP under Liz Hanson doubled its seat total to six and will form the official opposition.

The Liberals under Arthur Mitchell fell from five seats to two and he lost his Copperbelt north riding. (CKRW)
