REGINA - The NDP in Saskatchewan is offering seniors and their caregivers a helping hand if the party wins the Nov. 7 election.
Leader Dwain Lingenfelter (LING'-ehn-felt-ehr) says an NDP government would introduce an annual property tax rebate of $500 for seniors who own homes or rent.
He says the New Democrats would also bring in a refundable tax credit of up to $1,000 per year for those who care for aging relatives.
The NDP plan also commits to 750 new and replacement long-term care beds.
That would be in addition to 750 new subsidized affordable assisted living units.
Lingenfelter says it's important that the province's older population age with dignity.
