Wall hits campaign trail with money for highways, campgrounds and rinks

YORKTON, Sask. - Saskatchewan Party Premier Brad Wall has hit the campaign trail with a promise to spend $2.2 billion on highways over the next four years.

It's one of three promises Wall made on a visit to Yorkton.

Wall said the government will spend $10 million to fix up campground facilities and create more electrified campsites if his Saskatchewan Party is re-elected Nov. 7.

The premier also pledged to create a new grant that will give communities $2,500 to help with the cost of operating municipally owned ice surfaces.

Wall says the hockey and curling rinks are the heart of activity in many small and large communities throughout Saskatchewan.

New Democrats argue a promise to spend the same amount on highways over the next four years that was spent over the last four years is like a spending cut relative to inflation and population growth.
