Otto Goulding has thrown his hat into the ring in the mayor's race in Pasadena.

Currently a councillor, Goulding has served on the economic development and finance committees, as well as the Tipping Drive Development Committee, and has spent the past four years as president of the Great Humber Joint Council.

He said his 30 years spent volunteering in a number of initiatives with various local, provincial and national organizations make him the most qualified to contribute to Pasadena's growth and prosperity. Initiatives he is most looking forward to working on include the construction of the new multipurpose building, Tipping Drive development and town boundary extensions.

Child care is also important to Goulding, and he said he would work towards establishing a child-care facility for young families.

Town beautification and seniors' issues also top Goulding's agenda, he said. The town should work more closely with the Humber Valley Senior Citizens' group, providing assistance in its efforts to build an extension on its current building, he said.

The municipal election will be held Sept. 24, with nomination day Sept. 3.
