Congratulations to my wonderfully brilliant niece, Elizabeth Laurie, on her re-election to a second term as an elected councillor of the Town Council of Paradise, the fastest-growing municipality in Atlantic Canada and whose population currently will double within the coming decade, surpassing Mount Pearl and the lunch-bucket brigade of amalgamated settlements to become wards of the Town of Conception Bay South -- a dour name, at best. Following paternal uncles Mike and Philip Laurie who each won the initial and successive general municipal election as Councillors of St Thomas (formerly Horse Cove) before amalgamation in 1992 by the Wells administration, the family tradition beginning with the Morris family (great, great grandmothers Brigid Morris was the aunt of Baron E.P. Morris Premier 1907-18) the family tradition politically is ongoing and rightly so on the distaff side. Clan na Ui Labhradha go breagh an Talamh an Eisc!
