Walking tour to raise money for Canadian research on neuroendocrine canceR

On September 22, join a walking tour in Conception Bay North and raise money for Canadian research on neuroendocrine cancer. The 8 km. coastal walk  begins at 10:30 am. at the Ocean View Church in Broad Cove and ends in the resettled community of Bradley's Cove. Lunch will be available after the walk. If you're coming from the St. John's area, take Rte 70 N at Victoria, Carbonear and drive to the stately church in Broad Cove.

Reaching out to Veterans Ride

For the 2nd year,the 2nd Canadian Army Veterans Beaumont Hamel Motorcycle Unit has teamed with the Health Care Foundation to conduct the Support our Troops Reaching out to Veterans Ride on Sept. 22. This ride is in support of the creation of the Jim Shields Memorial Garden at the Caribou Veterans Pavilion. Fee is $25/motorcycle. The Canadian Federation of University Women Open House

The guest speaker will be Kelly Fewer, manager of programs for Iris Kirby House and she will give an overview of Iris Kirby House. Please join us on Saturday, September 22 from 2 - 4 p.m. at the E.B. Red Shoe Crew-Walk for Families

On September 22/23, Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland and Labrador will host the first annual Red Shoe Crew-Walk for Families, presented by Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro in 28 communities in the province. This event is one of the largest annual fundraising campaigns for Ronald McDonald House. Participants will register for pledge sheets and come together for fun, food, entertainment, giveaways and ultimately to celebrate families. The walk will be followed by a Celebration of Family that may include entertainment, prizes, family or children’s games and activities, and, of course, food and beverages for participants. Autumn Garden Party

Common Ground and St. John’s Safer Soil will host an Autumn Garden Party behind the Gathering Place on Saturday, Sept. 22. Join us at noon for a workshop on “Year Round Vertical Gardening,” a technique for growing food indoors or outdoors in vertical spaces. From 1 to 3 p.m. there will be a barbecue, lively music and family fun. Garden tours and information on lead safe gardening will also be provided.
