  • Details : On July 26, as part of the Landfall Trust’s “Literary Outing to Brigus,” As part of the 2014 Rockwell Kent Centennial in Newfoundland and Labrador, the Landfall Trust has invited Eleanor Wachtel, the well-known host of CBC’s Writers and Company, to introduce three Canadian authors who felt the lure of Rockwell Kent’s story. The authors are Jane Urquhart, who wrote The Underpainter; Michael Winter, who created the The Big Why; and Mack Furlong, who co-authored the play I Want It All with the late Fran Locke. On July 26, as part of the Landfall Trust’s “Literary Outing to Brigus,” these writers will read from their Kent-inspired works of fiction. Following a 10:00 AM tour of Brigus and Kent Cottage at Landfall, where Kent lived, the Authors’ Readings will take place at 2:00 PM at St. George’s Heritage Church in Brigus.

The Victoria Park Lantern Festival

    The Landfall Trust of Brigus welcomes you to the 2014 Rockwell Kent Centennial Commemoration Literary Events on July 26 at St. George’s Heritage Church, Brigus. Guided Walking Tour of Kent Cottage at Landfall & Brigus from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Assemble at St. George’s Heritage Church, Brigus. Admisson $15. Authors’ Readings: Kent’s Appearance in Fiction from 2 – 4 p.m. Eleanor Wachtel, well-known host of CBC’s Writers and Company, will introduce this panel of three Canadian authors -  Jane Urquhart, The Underpainter; Michael Winter, The Big Why; and Mack Furlong, I Want It All, who will read from their works of fiction in which Rockwell Kent makes an appearance. Harbour Grace Regatta - Dragon Boat in action

    Harbour Grace will get to see a 40-foot dragon boat in action at the Harbour Grace Regatta on July 26.  The Avalon Dragons have been invited to take part and show their stuff. An information session begins at 11 a.m. in the boathouse at the Lady Lake Regatta site. At 1 p.m. the Avalon Dragons will do a lunchtime demonstration.
