A pioneer bluegrass musician and a former member of Crooked Stovepipe has passed away after a lengthy illness.
Rex Yetman died Friday. He was 76.
The Jamestown native was an original member of York County Boys, a band that formed in the 1950s and cut one of the Canada's first bluegrass recordings, "Blue Grass Jamboree."
Yetman also played with Crooked Stovepipe, a band with which he won the East Coast Music Award for bluegrass album of the year in 2006.
A musical celebration of Yetman's life will be held at the St. James Anglican Church in Jamestown tomorrow at 1 p.m.
That will be followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m.
Yetman leaves to mourn his wife, three daughters, one son and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
