The RNC answered 128 calls in a 24 hour period including two incidents involving discharged firearms
RNC officers responded to a firearms call in the downtown area. It was discovered that shots were fired from a shotgun at a home causing damage. The matter is still under active investigation.
In an unrelated firearms incident, RNC officers responded to a call from a resident in St. John’s centre. It was alleged a firearm was fired at the resident’s home. Damage occurred to the home and the type of firearm used is unknown at this time. This matter is under investigation.
Other calls on the overnight
Acting under the complaint of an astute citizen, RNC officers stopped a vehicle in the Paradise area suspected of having an impaired operator. Investigation resulted in a 42 year old Paradise woman being charged with impaired driving. She was released to appear in court at a later date.
Members of the RNC responded to multiple calls to a house party out of control in the Fowler’s Road area of CBS. Upon arrival the RNC dispersed the partygoers and detained two male youth for drinking underage. These youth were released to the custody of their parents without charge.
RNC patrol officers responded to a complaint that there were people fighting outside a residence in Paradise. One male was arrested and brought to the lockup under the detention of intoxicated persons act.
During a traffic safety stop in CBS, RNC officers detained a driver suspected of driving while being intoxicated. The 35 year old male was served with a 7 day driving suspension.
RNC patrol Officers removed a 44 year old intoxicated male from a restaurant in Mount Pearl. He was brought to lockup under the detention of intoxicated persons act.
An K9 officer on patrol noticed a suspicious vehicle in Mount Pearl. One male youth was arrested and released for a later court date for possession of a prohibited weapon and carrying a concealed weapon.
RNC patrol officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Paradise. An adult male was arrested and detained for court in the morning. He was charged with assaulting a police officer. The matter is still under investigation.
RNC patrol officers responded to a domestic disturbance in Mount Pearl. A 29 year old female was charged with assault causing bodily harm. One male was taken to hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The female accused was released to appear in court at a later date.
While en-route to the lockup in an unrelated incident, RNC officers encountered an extremely intoxicated 20 year old male in front of Subway on Water Street. Another patrol unit assisted and the male was safely brought to the lockup under the detention of intoxicated persons act.
